Infant mortality in Morocco is almost 10 times higher than in the UK. It is shocking to see how much cheaper life becomes just beyond Europe’s borders.
The flip side of this cheapness is that surprisingly small amounts of money can make a real change.
Project Selma aims to find cost-effective, small-scale ways to improve maternity care and reduce infant mortality rates in Morocco.
We have a great network of friends and family in Morocco. We hope to leverage this to deliver projects cost-effectively with a minimum of bureaucracy.
We believe the web can radically transform giving. We plan to explore whether a Kiva.org structure would help encourage closer links between donors and recipients. Coming from a start-up background, we believe that small passionate organisations can be surprisingly effective.
Project Selma was founded to commemorate the short life of Selma Moukhfi Bell.
